TEAM AVERY- RELAY FOR LIFE

For one of my many Communication classes the main topic was public speaking. During this public speaking class I was taught how to display myself in a manner that would be pleasing and attractive to the audiences that I was presenting in front of.

I learned about attention getters, the “do’s the don’ts,” and even how to conclude a speech. This class taught me useful skills that not everyone was able to absorb.

For one specific assignment the topic was to give a sales pitch. At the same time this was assigned, a little girl from my hometown was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. A fundraiser was going on that sold t-shirts to raise money to help out her family and their finances during that aeful situation.

My thoughts were to pitch her story to my class and try to sell these shirts. I put her adorable face in front of the class and told the story of her and her family. My wishes before the speech was to grab their attention, grab their support, and also grab an A for the grade. My most hopeful wish was to sell at least one t-shirt, knowing that my audience was a group of poor college kids. To my surprise I sold t-shirts to more than half of the class and even the instructor bought the shirt. The money raised, was outstanding, my audience was touched, and my sales pitch definitely sold.

Since that speech I have had a drive to sell. This is just one example of how I can be effective and an asset to a sales team for any company.
